TMG hires Absolute Radios Hewat

Telegraph Media Group (TMG) has appointed Absolute Radio commercial director Nick Hewat to the position of sales director.

Hewat (pictured), who will report to TMG executive director Dave King, will replace Mathew Watkins who is to take up a new role as director of advertising strategy at the publisher.

Watkins will now work on analysis of commercial and press advertising trends while Hewat will oversee the group’s newspapers and magazine sales teams.

Hewat has been in the radio industry for 17 years, joining the then Virgin Radio, before its rebrand to Absolute Radio last September, in 2005. He was also previously head of agency sales at GCap Media.

King says of the appointments: “In these unprecedented times it will be the teams who adapt, play to their strengths and focus on delivering exceptional customer service who will succeed and these changes will strengthen our customer-centric approach.”

The hirings follow the recent appointment of Ross Belcher as TMG’s client strategy director.
