Nectar appoints new managing director

Groupe Aeroplan, owner of the Nectar rewards programme, has appointed Jan-Pieter Lips as managing director of the business.

Lips will be responsible for the management and continued expansion of the programme and replaces Brian Sinclair. The latter was a founding member of the Nectar programme and eh will return to Canada in an executive position with Groupe Aeroplan.

Lips was previously director of client development responsible for existing clients and new business. In 2005 he was responsible for developing and launching Nectar Business, the extension of the Nectar programme into the b2b market.

He previously worked at Loyalty Management Netherlands BV, the company behind the Dutch Air Miles programme.

Groupe Aeroplan has just appointed Richard Baker , former chief executive of Alliance Boots, as chair of its European Advisory Board.

Loyalty Management Group was originally launched by Sir Keith Mills and bought by Groupe Aeroplan in 2007 for £350 million. He was also involved in the creation of the AirMiles reward concept.
