ITN names John Hardie as CEO

ITN, the independent news provider, has recruited former commercial director of ITN Network Centre John Hardie as chief executive officer.

Hardie (pictured) joins from The Walt Disney Company where he was executive vice president and managing director of Walt Disney Television in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

He worked at ITV Network Centre from 1997 to 2001 and was responsible for marketing, on-air promotion, business affairs, ITV2 and internet activities.

He is also a former managing director of Procter & Gamble and ran the European cosmetics and toiletries business for three years.

Hardie replaces Mark Wood, who stepped down at the end of last month, and takes up his position in the summer.

Disney has promoted Giorgio Stock to take Hardie’s role. He has been senior vp and general manager, Disney Channels, Italy, since 2005. He joined Disney in 1997 and previously worked at Bertelsmann.
