Matt Brittin to become director of UK operations at Google
Google has promoted Matt Brittin to director of UK operations, following the promotion of Dennis Woodside to VP Americas Operations.
Woodside, who was VP & MD of UK, Benelux & Ireland, replaces Tim Armstrong, who left his role as Google president to become chairman-CEO of Time Warner unit AOL.
Woodside has been with Google for five years and was responsible for opening up Google operations in Eastern Europe before taking control of the UK operations.
Brittin, who joined in January 2007 to run Google’s UK direct sales, will take responsibility for agency and sales operations teams for the UK market, which is Google’s second largest market.
Prior to Google he was director of strategy and digital at Trinity Mirror.
Omid Kordestani, SVP global sales & business development at Google, said, ’In the five and a half years that Dennis has been at Google he’s brought incredible integrity and entrepreneurialism to everything he’s done.
“He’s helped to create a first class team as well as establish very positive relationships with our big partners on both the advertiser and agency side.”
