American Airlines is using Kevin Spacey to spearhead its first TV campaign for two years.
Created by McCann Erickson London, the ad shows Spacey on the hunt for ‘the best seat’ – a hunt which takes him to theatres, libraries and a New York Basketball game.
Finally, he ends up comfortable and content on an American Airlines Business Class seat.
There is also a 20-second spot focusing on the benefits of the lie-flat beds in Business Class and the ease of check-in.
Executive creative director, Brian Fraser, said the campaign was designed to “acknowledge the high expectations of the discerning traveller”.
“There is no-one who better exemplifies this testy, urbane traveller than Kevin Spacey,” he explained.
Furthermore, Spacey exemplifies the transatlantic lifestyle – hopping between the US and London, where he is artistic director at The Old Vic.
The £2m campaign will run from March 24 to June 21.
