BMW consolidates media business into Vizeum

BMW has consolidated its media planning and buying business into Vizeum without a formal pitch.

The Aegis Media-owned agency had previously handled the car marque’s buying account while PHD handled planning.

The decision followed a review led by UK marketing director Richard Hudson.

BMW’s digital media business, handled by Zed Media, is not believed to be affected by the move.

Earlier this week the BMW Group announced that deliveries fell 17% in March led by a drop in US demand and interest in its Mini brand.

Sales of the BMW brand dropped 17% to 104,417 while mini sales dropped 18.5% to 21,888.

In the US, sales of its BMW and Mini brands decreased by 24.2% and 15.9% sales respectively in March although this outperformed the market which shrunk by 37% in March.

BMW has been suffering from shrinking worldwide demand for its cars as the global economic downturn hits car sales and has recently scaled back production.
