EBay has awarded Bartle Bogle Hegarty its estimated 15m pan-European advertising account.
EBay has awarded Bartle Bogle Hegarty its estimated £15m pan-European advertising account.
It followed a pitch against Fallon and French agency, Legg. Albion, Euro RSCG in France and Springer & Jacoby in Germany were involved at an earlier stage of the pitch.
BBH will begin work on digital and interactive activity, then target mass media.
The online auctioneer called the review earlier this year. European marketing director Torsten Schuppe led the review.
The move formed part of eBay’s strategy to appoint an agency that can handle pan-European briefs following the consolidation of European marketing to a central team in Switzerland. the team works alongside its international advertising division, already based in Switzerland and led by Christian Kunz.
EBay is also reviewing its UK media account, currently held by PHD. The £1.2m pre-Christmas media account was awarded to Carat on a temporary basis last November.
This month, Alex Marks joined eBay Advertising International as its head of business marketing. He will report to Kunz. Marks will be responsible for developing marketing strategy in the UK and international markets.
