Yahoo! creates global agency and client sales chief role

Yahoo! has promoted Emma Jowett to the new role of head of agency and client sales within the global sales team.

Jowett, previously pan-European sales manager, will report to global sales commercial director Warren Burke. She will be responsible for driving growth in agency and client use of online in brand campaigns and product media strategies.

The appointment comes amid a major management restructure under new chief executive Carol Bartz, who took over from Jerry Yang in January.

Former NetApp corporate marketing senior vice president Eliza Steele was appointed global chief marketing officer last month.

Yahoo! posted fourth quarter losses of $303m (£212m) and in December closed its ads in RSS programme which allowed brands to serve contextual ads within feeds, as part of its drive to close underperforming parts of its business.

Yahoo! says it expects revenue to be between $1.53bn (£1.08bn) and $1.73bn (£1.22bn) for the first quarter. Income from operations is expected to be between $75m (£53m) and $85m (£60m).
