T-Mobile appoints marketing chief

T-Mobile UK has appointed Srini Gopalan, currently Capital One Bank MD for Europe, as its new chief marketing officer.

He replaces Phil Chapman, who joined Kerry Foods in February in the new role of group marketing director.

Gopalan, who will join T-Mobile in June, will be responsible for revenue development encompassing customer relationship management, loyalty and retention, brand development and marketing communications.

Before moving into the position of managing director at Capital One Bank in 2007, Gopalan was head of marketing and analysis.

Prior to Capital One he spent four years as a consultant with management consultancy, Accenture.

Meanwhile, Orange Romania chief executive Richard Moat has been tipped to take on the managing director’s role at T-Mobile UK.

Earlier this year the mobile operator launched a guerrilla-style ad campaign featuring 350 dancers. The campaign, created by Saatchi & Saatchi, centred around its new “Life’s for Sharing” brand strapline.
