COI shortlists agencies for vulnerable workers campaign

The COI has shortlisted three creative agencies to pitch for a new Government campaign to promote the rights of vulnerable workers.

Delaney Lund Knox Warren, Chick Smith Trott and Vallance Carruthers Coleman Priest have been selected to pitch for the campaign for the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR) initiative.

The two year national campaign is intended to raise awareness of Government enforced specific workers’ rights and available help to for workers to receive their entitled support.

The campaign will also launch a new single helpline, which amalgamates five current separate employment rights helplines.

The helpline will offer advice to workers concerned about being forced to work more than 48 hours a week, as well as employment advice to those who work for ‘gangmasters’ who supply labour to industries including agriculture, forestry, horticulture, shellfish gathering and food processing.

The campaign is the latest Government effort to counter unscrupulous agencies exploiting foreign workers who may be in the country illegally, following the death of 21 Chinese cockle pickers at Morecambe Bay in 2004.
