Carat names digital evangelist Robert Horler as MD
Carat has appointed Diffiniti chief Robert Horler as its new managing director to take up the responsibilities previously handled by Neil Jones.
The appointment sees a highly experienced digital executive take the reins of a “traditional” media agency for the first time. Horler will work closely with deputy managing director Steve Hobbs.
Horler is currently MD at digital planning and buying agency Diffiniti but previously worked at Carat UK setting up and running its interactive business. Horler founded Diffiniti in 2004.
Jones joined News International as director of commercial strategy in March.
Carat and Diffiniti are both owned by Aegis Media. The parent company intends to maintain Diffiniti and will replace Horler.
Nigel Sharrocks, chief executive of Aegis Media, says: “Rob has the perfect blend of leadership skills and digital capability to build on Carat’s recent success and write the next chapter in the agency’s transformation.”
