Product MDM Solution launched by Oracle

Oracle has partnered with Silver Creek Systems to create its Product Data Quality Cleansing and Matching Server, based on the DataLens System. The new application is able to standardise, match, enrich and correct multi-source product data using a semantic-based technology.

The launch moves Oracle beyond its historical focus on customer data and extends the Oracle Product Hub by introducing data quality capabilities. Adopters are likely to be functions such as procurement, with applications across new product development, channel penetration, reporting and analytics. Clients including Hanjin Shpping, Korean Air, LG Telecom and Pfizer have already deploying Oracle Product Hub.

“Product data quality issues create direct cost and revenue impacts in procurement, operations, new product introductions and customer service,” says Oracle vice president, PIM and PLM product strategy, Hardeep Gulati. “This partnership between Oracle and Silver Creek Systems, is unique in the industry and provides a significant differentiation for Oracle.”

Gartner Research vice president Andrew White notes: “Data quality has always been a critical aspect of any MDM project, but it is nearly always an aspect that is underestimated and under-planned. This is especially true with product data quality, which due to its extreme variability has been particularly difficult to automate.”
