M&S makes U-turn on bra pricing

Marks & Spencer has agreed to remove the 2 extra charge for larger size bras following a media campaign.

Marks & Spencer has agreed to remove the £2 extra charge for larger size bras following a media campaign.

The high street retailer today agreed to backtrack on its decision to pass on the extra cost in making bigger bras to customers following what it called a “storm in a D cup.”

It announced its decision this morning via full-page newspaper ads bearing the headline “we boobed.” The retailer also used the ad to launch a two week 25% off sale on all bras to try and offset the cost of the campaign by boosting sales.

The Sun newspaper claims its “hands off our boobs” campaign played a major contribution in why M&S backtracking on its pricing policy.

In a statement M&S defended its decision before admitting it was wrong.

“Its true our fantastic quality larger bras cost more money to make, and we felt it was right to reflect to reflect this in the prices we charged.

Well, we were wrong, so as of Saturday 9th May the storm in a D cup is over!” it added.
