BBH handed global account for Surf
Unilever has consolidated its global ad account for clothing detergent brand Surf into Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
As a result the agency, which previously held the account for Europe and Latin America, now adds Philippines, Vietnam, South Africa and Turkey to it Surf remit.
The business now handled by BBH was previously held by Lowe. The agency will co-ordinate the account from its London office with support from regional offices in Singapore and Sao Paulo and a partnership with The Hardy Boys in South Africa.
Other Unilever brands handled by Lowe, including laundry products Skip and cleaning products Cif and Domestos are unaffected by the move.
BBH has had a relationship with Unilever since 1995 when it was appointed to the Lynx account by now chief marketing officer Simon Clift
Recent Mintel research showed that consumers in the UK are ditching laundry brand loyalty in favour of cheaper supermarket own-brand ranges as a cash-saving measure as the recession bites.
