Shelter names new head of fundraising

Former Help the Aged head of fundraising Louise Parkes (pictured) is to take on a similar role at Shelter.

Parkes will take over the newly merged fundraising and shops, training and social enterprise team at the homeless support charity in June.

She will report to the director of income and enterprise Ed Jordan, and will not sit on the Shelter Senior Management Team, despite having the title Fundraising Director.

She will take over from Alan Gosschalk who announced in December that he would leave the organisation as a result of the merger.

Both Gosschalk and Jordan, the former head of trading, were invited to apply for the income director role but Gosschalk announced he would leave to focus on ‘pure fundraising.’

Parkes was previously head of fundraising with responsibility for 26 staff at Help the Aged, which has recently merged with Age Concern and has placed fundraising into the combined remit of the Group Director of Marketing.

She has also been responsible for fundraising and governance as a trustee at Twins and Multiple Birth Association (TAMBA).
