Play.com launches credit card

Online retailer Play.com has today (May 20) launched a branded credit card that aims to encourage loyalty by offering a reward scheme for customers.

The credit card, provided by MBNA, will offer “PlayPoints” for use on the Play.com website.

Points accrued from purchases made on the site can be redeemed against products on the site with two points for every £1 spent on Play and one point for every £1 bought elsewhere.

Chief operating officer Stuart Rowe says the card aims to offer “another way of rewarding our customers for their ongoing loyalty”.

The launch of the credit card comes two months after the entertainment retailer said it would up the ante in its digital marketing this year to increase its visibility online and attract customers from now defunct retailers such as Zavvi.

Earlier this year, Play.com was revealed as the top-ranked retailer in the National Consumer Satisfaction Index customer service survey.

The credit card will be available through the Play.com website.
