David Beckham stars in anti-malaria campaign
Charity Malaria No More UK is to launch a public awareness campaign featuring David Beckham next Wednesday (May 27) during Sky Sports’ coverage of the UEFA Champions League final.
The advertisement will run during the broadcasters’ coverage of the final between Manchester United and Barcelona and coincides with the charity being chosen as recipient organisation for the ‘Sky Red Button’ campaign.
The spot features Beckham kicking a penalty into a net less goal with the aim of highlighting the need for mosquito nets to help prevent the spread of malaria in Africa.
Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD1 viewers can learn more about malaria and donate to the charity after pressing the red button on the evening of the final.
The charity was launched in April with a London event fronted by Beckham, who is a founding member of the leadership council for Malaria No More UK.
It aims to drive public awareness in the UK about the disease and that it is both preventable and treatable.
