Xbox signs social media deals

Xbox has signed deals with content providers Facebook, and Twitter as Microsoft continues to integrate the console with a host of online services.

Subscribers to Xbox Live Gold will be able to use Facebook Connect features to view and link their social network profile with their gaming profile.

The ability to update Twitter status via the console will also become available.

Microsoft has agreed a deal with music streaming service Last.Fm to allow its premium subscribers, who pay £39.99 a year, to access tracks for free.

The announcements were made at gaming conference E3.
