Global Radio marketing chief departs

Global Radio marketing director Nicola Thomson is leaving her role at the end of the month to move with her family to New York, Marketing Week can reveal.

Thomson’s husband Peter Thomson has been sent by his media agency M2M to spearhead a new division in the US city.

Nicola has been in her current role at Global Radio for a year after joining from Bauer Radio’s Magic 105.4, where she was marketing manager.

Thomson’s role was expanded last year when she took on responsibility for the radio group’s entire portfolio of stations following its £375 million purchase of GCap Media. She is credited with an instrumental role in the national roll-out of the Heart brand.

Global director of broadcasting Richard Park says Thomson has been a “huge asset”. “We are very sad to see Nicola go, but we wish her every success in her new life in America.”

He adds: “We will announce her replacement in ten days time.”
