Thomson’s husband Peter Thomson has been appointed by his media agency M2M to spearhead a new division in the US city.

Thomson has been in her current role since last October when she took on responsibility for the radio group’s entire portfolio following its £375m purchase of GCap Media last year.

She joined Global in 2007 from the then EMAP-owned Magic 105.4, as marketing director for Heart, LBC and Galaxy. Prior to Magic, she held senior marketing positions at Jazz FM and Carlton Screen Advertising.

She is credited with having an instrumental role in the national roll-out of the Heart brand, which involved the rebrand of nine stations across the Anglia region in January and a further 12 stations in March.

Thomson’s successor will inherit a portfolio in good health. Recent Rajar data showed flagship London stations Heart 106.2 and 98.5 Capital the second and third most listened to commercial stations in London while the Capital breakfast show is still the most listened to commercial breakfast programme in London.

The radio group is reviewing its media account following the mutual decision to part company with incumbent MediaVest.

Global director of broadcasting Richard Park says Thomson has been a “huge asset”. He adds he expects to announce her successor shortly.
