Mail Online expands into price-comparison market

The Daily Mail has become the latest publisher to launch a shopping comparison site as it continues to introduce new online revenue channels.

MailCompare allows users to search and compare prices of financial products including car insurance, credit cards and mortgages.

The publisher also offers cashback when a user changes their car insurance or utility provider.

James Bromley, MD of Mail Online, said, “We have a huge volume of visitors to our existing network of sites to whom we can cross-sell financial services.”

Other publishers in the price-comparison market include The Independent, The Sun and Times Online.

The Daily Mail has partnered with BeatThatQuote.com to offer the service.

In February Mail Online launched an affiliate model across its site to generate revenues from brands referred to in its editorial copy, through a partnership with Skimlinks (nma 19 February 2009).

Last week it announced it’s to launch an online electronic TV programme guide (nma 4 June 2009).
