MTV One will be renamed MTV, while MTV One+ will be known as MTV+, from July 1.
A spokesman for the broadcaster confirmed the rebrand plans, but says it is yet to reveal any further details.
MTV One programmes include The Hills and Kerry Katona: What’s the Problem?
Meanwhile, MTV International is planning to launch a major online video archive music initiative, MTV Music, in the UK later this year.
The site will form part of a global digital hub which will bring together the brand’s vast archive as part of a strategy to position MTV as a leading online music video destination.
Last year MTV UK announced plans to cut almost 10% of its 750-strong workforce as part of cost-cutting measures imposed by parent company Viacom.
In May, MTV became the first brand to sponsor a new channel on MySpace, the MySpace Comment Channel, created to give consumers a place to share their views.
It calls on users to take part in polls and share views on topical issues.
