Twiggy to star in new Olay ads

Twiggy will star in a new campaign for Proctor and Gamble’s Olay skincare brand 25 years after her first appearance as a face for the then Oil of Ulay.

The sixties model has signed a new 12 month contract with P&G to appear in a new Team Saatchi ad for the Olay anti-ageing range Definity.

The agency’s previous ad for the Olay brand was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority for “misleading” claims the “regenerist” range would have the similar affect to “cosmetic injections.”

The FMCG multinational will be hoping the new ad boosts sales of the brand after reporting a 9% drop in sales at skincare division, which includes Olay, in the first three months of 2009.

British model Twiggy, who is about to turn 60, has also been the face of recent campaigns for Marks & Spencer, most recently appearing in the retailer’s 125 years birthday campaign.
