Hula Hoops launches filmmaking competition

United Biscuits is launching an integrated campaign and filmmaking competition for its Hula Hoops brand, aimed at outlining its “unique and playful” shape.

Created by Publicis, the TV ad will air today (July 6) and feature a train passenger and decorator who are distracted from what is happening around them because they are engrossed in creating finger puppets using their Hula Hoops.

The TV ads will act as the launch pad for the “Golden Hoop Film Awards”, which aims to encourage consumers to take inspiration from the TV ad and produce their own finger puppet films using Hula Hoops.

Participants will then get a chance to win a family holiday to Hollywood.

The integrated campaign also includes on-pack promotions created by Wax Communications, online activity created by digital agency InboxDMG, PR and in-store promotional activity.

Media planning and buying was handled by Mediaedge:cia, with the campaign airing from July to August.
