HSBC names Cook customer management head

HSBC has appointed Brendan Cook to the new role of head of customer management.

HSBC has appointed Brendan Cook to the new role of head of customer management.

In the new role, Cook will be responsible for the marketing of the bank’s personal finance division, research, product development and product management.

He steps up from his current role as head of Premier and financial planning within the bank’s wealth management division and will report to Joe Garner, group general manager of personal financial services.

He has previously been chief executive of joint venture M&S Money and global head of card services.

The bank is still looking for a replacement for UK marketing director role vacated by James Boulton in February.

Philip Mehl, UK head of marketing, currently standing in for Boulton, will report to Cook.

In March, HSBC Group appointed Tracy Britton as head of marketing replacing Chris Clark who moved to lead customer experience at the bank.

The bank’s recent fortunes have contrasted sharply with the losses reported by rivals such as Lloyds Banking Group and Royal Bank of Scotland, reporting in May that it had made a “resilient” start to the year with profits ahead of last year.
