HSE appoints TBWA/Manchester

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has appointed TBWA/Manchester to handle its creative account following a pitch.

The agency won following a three-way shoot out with DLKW and McCann Erickson/Manchester. The pitch was handled by the Central Office of Information.

McCann Erickson/Manchester was brought into the pitching process at a late stage following the withdrawal of VCCP, who declined to take part due to workload.

The agency will work in co-ordination with recently appointed communications planning agency Experience on future HSE campaigns to promote “a sensible approach to health and safety across the UK.”

Experience triumphed over Arena BLM and Mediacom last month to win the HSE brief. The previous incumbent was ZenithOptimedia.

The reviews come following the appointment of former AstraZeneca executive Sally Sykes as HSE director of communications earlier this year.

The HSE appointed direct marketing specialist Watson Phillips Norman last year following a competitive pitch to handle a new strategy on workplace safety education.
