NBC Universal Global Networks undertakes restructure

NBC Universal Global Networks has restructured its UK programming and marketing departments in a bid to further develop its two channel groups.

James Newton (pictured) has been appointed to the new role of head of channels for the SCI FI and Movies24 group of brands.

Reporting to Charlotte Ashton, VP, programming and marketing for NBC Universal Global Networks (UK), he will lead the long-term strategies for both brands.

Newton’s previous experience includes the rebranding of Paramount Comedy to Comedy Central UK earlier this year, where he served as consultant director of programming and planning.

Prior to that he worked at UKTV as channel head of Gold.

The second channel group, encompassing the Hallmark and Diva TV brands, sees programming director Jon Farrar appointed to a newly expanded role where he will head the UK development of the channels.

He has also been tasked with developing the NBC global channels. He will work with Martin Irusta, SVP programming and acquisitions, on acquired and commissioned global content development, and Eleanor McBrien, VP global marketing and creative services, on global channel brands.
