Nortel forced to pull out as LOCOG sponsor

Cisco has signed up as a tier two sponsor of the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (Locog) after Nortel was forced to terminate its partnership with the body.

Cisco stepped in as the official network infrastructure partner after Nortel announced its intention to sell some of its wireless assets and other parts of its businesses.

As a consequence, Nortel has been forced to pull out of its tier one partnership with Locog.

The Olympic body now has six domestic tier one partners: Adidas, BP, British Airways, BT, EDF Energy and Lloyds TSB.

The four domestic tier two supporters are Adecco, Cadbury, Cisco and Deloitte.

Further, the ten domestic tier three suppliers and providers are Airwave, Atkins, Boston Consulting Group, Crystal CG, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, Holiday Inn, McCann Worldgroup, The Nielsen Company, Populous and Trident.

Meanwhile, the worldwide Olympic partners consists of Coca-Cola, Acer, Atos Origin, GE, McDonald’s, Omega, Panasonic, Samsung and Visa.
