Sony UK reviews agency roster

Sony UK, the consumer electronics company, is looking to rationalise its agency roster by whittling it down from over 130 agencies to less than ten.

Head of brand and advertising Carl Pring is understood to be involved in the push and is part of a strategy to create a more consistent approach to it’s marketing.

The review will affect all agencies including advertising, media, digital advertising, design and events.

Incumbent agencies include Fallon, Gyro, OMD, Iris, TBWA, The Value Engineers and Dare Digital.

Sony produces ranges in product categories including television, digital cameras, accessories, DVD players and personal audio ranges.

Fallon is the lead agency on the Bravia account. A recent ad campaign featured Brazilian footballer Kaka showing off his skills in a giant zoetrope – a device that produces an illusion of action from a rapid succession of static pictures.

The ad aimed to promote the visual qualities of Sony’s new range of televisions.
