This follows the FSSC’s application for relicensing being refused in May. The FSSC is one of 25 Sector Skills Councils operating in the UK that were set up and primarily funded by the government to improve skills in their industry.

In July of last year, the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES) announced that all sector skills councils would have their licenses reviewed to check that they were fully meeting employers’ demands.

Opening Doors, based in Cheshire, has been tasked with devising a comprehensive communication programme, directed at all major financial industry stakeholders including sector employers, trade associations and professional bodies, to support the FSSC’s revised submission for relicensing, due for submission this September.

The agency specialises in research, strategy consulting and design and won the business after a four way pitch.

Les Wilcock, managing director at Opening Doors, says: “We will be working directly with a core of 19 directors, who are all passionate about equipping the financial services industry with the necessary skills to overcome the current challenges associated with the present climate of economic uncertainty.

“The main focus of the programme will be devising and managing stakeholder engagement strategies.”

The agency client list includes blue-chips such as British Airways and Elegant Resorts, as well as public sector bodies and SMEs.
