3 opens mobile broadband homepage to advertisers

Mobile operator 3 UK will for the first time open up its mobile broadband homepage to advertisers.

The homepage, or “dashboard” is already being used by brands in 3’s Austrian operations with campaigns running for Volkswagen, Suzuki, Kia, Peugeot, Mazda, Honda and Land Rover.

The Hutchison Whampoa-owned mobile operator is yet to sign up UK advertisers, with the initial deals expected to last until the end of the year.

The dashboard, which launches every time a user connects to the internet, will be visible to more than one million broadband users and receives more than 30 million impressions every month.

Neil Andrews, 3 UK head of advertising, says: “Our mobile broadband offering is seeing a huge amount of uptake. This new opportunity presents brands with the opportunity of getting in front of a large target audience in a bold and visible manner.”

In May, 3 signed an ad deal to sponsor Original Comedy on Channel 4. The idents centred around poking fun at what people love and hate about using the internet.
