Volkswagen appoints new head of marketing

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has announced changes to its sales and marketing team, with David George promoted to the role of head of marketing.


He has been with the Volkswagen Group since 1998 and will take over from Steve Reynolds on 1 September.

George moves from his position of head of learning services at the car company’s National Learning Centre.

Prior to this he was national sales manager for Audi and he has also held marketing communications roles in both the Audi and Volkswagen Passenger Car brands.

Reynolds is leaving the UK to take up the position of vice president of strategy and planning for FAW Volkswagen in China.

He has been with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles since May last year and with the Volkswagen Group in the UK for over nine years.

In another new appointment, Phil Taylor joins the group in the new role of market and planning manager and will report directly to George.

Earlier this month, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles launched a marketing campaign as part of a strategy to reposition its vehicles as sound investments.

The campaign, created by Iris, features the new strapline “very commercial vehicles”.
