Bruce Grobbelaar gets behind bookmaker’s football offering

Bookmaker Paddy Power is launching a second wave of television advertising ahead of the new football season.

Bookmaker Paddy Power is launching a second wave of television advertising ahead of the new football season.

The new activity, created by Karmarama, breaks on 4 August and features former Liverpool goalkeeper Bruce Grobbelaar promoting the company’s football betting concessions.

Grobbelaar is seen recreating the infamous “spaghetti legs” incident in the penalty shoot-out during Liverpool’s 1984 European Cup Final victory against Roma.

The goalkeeper goes on to explain the bookmaker’s “Money-Back Special”, which offers customers placing bets with Paddy Power their losing stake back.

The new ad continues the theme of Paddy Power’s first TV campaign earlier this year, which featured former England footballer Carlton Palmer in a bath. He appeared in the ad after winning a public vote to determine which former footballer would star.
