DoH appoints Billington to handle cancer campaign
The Department of Health has appointed Billington Cartmell to handle partnership marketing activity to raise awareness of cervical cancer among teenagers.
The agency will focus attention on the new HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccination programme, which protects girls from cervical cancer in later life.
Over half of women who have sex will get infected with HPV. There are over 100 types of HPV but only 13 are known to cause cancer. The HPV vaccine protects against the two strains of HPV that cause cervical cancer in over 70% of women.
The pitch, handled by the COI, saw Billington Cartmell go up against two undisclosed agencies.
Billington Cartmell was appointed to handle marketing communications for the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform in December last year.
