Virgin Media has recruited Disney Interactive Media Group senior VP and managing director Europe, Middle East and Africa, Cindy Rose, to take the role of executive director of television.

She has been appointed to lead Virgin Media’s TV strategy including developing its digital platform and video-on-demand service.

Rose will work alongside VMtv managing director, Jonathan Webb, both of which will drive the business following the departure of chief executive Malcolm Wall, in March this year.

Rose will take up her new position on 1 November.

Over the past 14 years, she has also held other positions at Disney. Rose was previously senior VP and managing director of UK and Ireland. She was responsible for growing the company’s presence in the UK.

Meanwhile, Virgin Media TV, which owns Virgin 1 Living, Challenge and Bravo channels, is still in talks over its sale.

It is thought that BSkyB and Time Warner are going head-to-head in a bidding war to acquire the division. Channel 4 last month withdrew its interest.

Earlier this month, Virgin Media posted second quarter results showing a small rise in total customer revenues to £758m during the second quarter.

Virgin Media offers digital TV, broadband, mobile and landline telephony and during the period it recorded its highest ever-average monthly spend by its customers of £43.27.
