Which? to launch own-branded products

Consumer group Which? is in talks to raise finance so it can launch a range of own-branded products.

which

The charity, which campaigns on behalf of consumers against bad customer service as well as offering comparison and testing services, is looking to raise capital or agree joint ventures in order to extend the Which? brand, according to a report in The Sunday Times.

The former Consumer Association’s chief executive, Peter Vicary-Smith, told the newspaper he wanted to encourage competition in markets where it is currently lacking.

“All our research shows that Which? is a phenomenally well-trusted brand, not just in the areas in which we traditionally operate.

“People would trust us to offer an enormous range of goods fairly and for a reasonable price, “ he says.

Which? has launched own-branded products in the past including its own credit card and a website called Carbusters. The website aimed to encourage British car deals to drop their price by letting British buyers search for cars overseas.
