His appointment is effective immediately and he replaces Carol Yang, who will remain with the company until October during the transition period.

Davey will report to chief brand officer, Mike Harrison. It is not know if Yang has a job to go to.

Davey most recently spent eight years at Nickelodeon and Viacom Consumer Products and leaves his position as senior vice president, global marketing, planning and retail development.

He has also worked as global brand director at Polaroid and held marketing roles at Lego.

In April, Timberland launched an outdoor campaign in the UK themed around the credit crunch and aimed at cash-strapped consumers.

The ads, created by Leagas Delaney, featured the copy “We build things to last. Maybe we should start a bank” and “One American institution that won’t fall apart”.
