BAT appoints group marketing director

British American Tobacco, maker of Lucky Strike and Dunhill, has promoted director of Western Europe Jean-Marc Levy to the role of group marketing director.

He will take over from Jimmi Rembiszewski on 1 January following his retirement.

Prior to Rembiszewski’s departure Levy will take on the position of deputy group marketing director on 1 October.

Levy will be succeeded by Jack Bowles, currently managing director of British American Tobacco Malaysia.

Levy joined the company in 1993 as a consumer marketing manager in Switzerland. He subsequently held a number of marketing and general management positions before becoming regional director, Western Europe in 2008.

Bowles joined in 2004 and became chairman of British American Tobacco France in 2005. He took up his current role in 2007. He will be succeeded by William Toh who is currently area director, Indonesia Cluster.

The company’s four global brands, Dunhill, Kent, Lucky Strike and Pall Mall, cover the premium and value end of the market, accounting for 26% of its overall global volumes.

BAT claims that they grew by 16% last year, or 25 billion cigarettes.

Meanwhile, last week rival Philip Morris unveiled a new variant under its Marlboro brand

The new mid-priced cigarette brand called Bright Leaf is its first new product launch in two years.
