Department store John Lewis has signed up to NearLondon, a virtual shopping and entertainment portal set to go live in November.

The social networking enterprise presents a high quality, video representation of the capital’s shops and businesses, providing a link between online and the high street.

The portal allows London businesses to create an interactive environment based on their physical stores, letting visitors explore and access the city virtually.

NearGlobal is also pairing up with the New West End Company to promote its West End VIP scheme to users of the 3D world.

The scheme offers members exclusive offers and promotions at selected West End shops, hotels and restaurants and will also gain access to NearLondon VIP events and exclusive online content.

Stephen Cooper, head of marketing and events at John Lewis Oxford Street says: “NearLondon brings the real West End experience to a worldwide audience and it allows us to give virtual visitors a taste of what we think makes John Lewis special.

“That’s why we’re excited that they’ll be able to enjoy our refurbished flagship Oxford Street store in NearLondon’s amazing interactive 3D.”
