Vonage looks to increase interactivity of banner ads

Internet telephony provider Vonage is looking to increase the interaction it has with prospective customers by introducing what it claims is the UK’s first “click to call back” digital ads.

The ads invite consumers to input their phone numbers within a box inside the banner ad, which prompts an almost immediate call back.

Vincent Potier, managing director of Vonage UK, says the concept aims to link digital advertising and its call centres “even better”, while hopefully providing “real time lead generation”.

“It is about integrating digital with other channels of acquisition”, he says.

The “click to call back” ads follow the company’s “click to chat” concept in 2007 and last year’s “calculator” banner ad that allowed potential customers to calculate what they could save by using Vonage’s service.

The initiatives are about “improving targeting and getting the right banners for the right audience, Potier says.

Vonage offers Voice over Internet Protocol services that allow people to make and receive calls through their internet connection using their existing home phone.
