Classic FM pushes CD in doctors’ surgeries
Classic FM is to promote the release of a branded CD box set in doctors’ practices across the UK.
The Global Radio-owned “relaxation” station has developed a television advertisement to push the collection of piano music in surgery waiting rooms.
Darren Henley, managing director of Classic FM, says the campaign aims to remind those waiting of the “relaxing benefits of classical music”.
The CD push is running simultaneously with the station’s biggest ever marketing campaign.
The four-week national activity launched at the start of September and aims to cement the Global Radio-owned brand as the “relaxation station”, where listeners can tune in to unwind.
It also intends to build on recent audience gains. Latest Rajar listening figures showed the station added 303,000 new listeners in the three months to 30 June to register 5.7m listeners per week.
Classic FM, which Global claims is the “largest” commercial radio station in the UK, features a number of veteran radio broadcasters and celebrities as presenters, including Blur bassist, Alex James, Myleene Klass, Simon Bates and the actor Tony Robinson.
