Aegon to sponsor Masters Tennis

Aegon the life insurance group has announced a deal to sponsor the Masters Tennis tournament at the Royal Albert Hall.

The deal extends the company’s involvement with the sport from grass roots to professional tournaments following the announcement in January this year that the company was to be the lead partner of British Tennis.

It could see Aegon sponsor the tennis event until 2013.

Players at the tournament, which runs 1-6 December this year, will include international champions Pat after and Goran Ivanisevic.

The financial services company signed a deal with the Lawn tennis Association last year replacing Stella Artois as the title sponsor of the Queen’s Club tournament and partner of the British Davis Cup team.

Aegon UK Director of Marketing Steve Clode, says: “Aegon’s partnership with British Tennis supports the sport at all levels, from grassroots development to major tournaments like the Aegon Championships at The Queen’s Club. Already this year our tennis activity has reinforced our brand credentials, and the Aegon Masters Tennis will enable us to continue this success.”

Earlier this year the company restructured its marketing division bringing its life insurance and pensions marketing teams together.
