Sir Crispin Davis emerges as frontrunner to be ITV chairman

Sir Crispin Davis, the former chief executive of Reed Elsevier, has emerged as the frontrunner to become the chairman of ITV.

According to reports, Sir Crispin is understood to be leading the race to take over from Michael Grade after it emerged he was to step down as chairman by the end of the year.

Sir Michael Bishop, the founder of BMI and former chairman of Channel 4, is also under consideration, according to The Sunday Telegraph.

The broadcaster has also been forced to restart the search for a new chief executive after announcing negotiations with Tony Ball ended last week.

Talks with the former BskyB chief executive, ITV said, “had highlighted a number of substantial differences, including a failure to finally agree contractual arrangements”.

The media company says it will not fill the chief executive role of an interim basis and the search will start again once a chairman has been appointed.
