Teletext, the DMGT-owned company, has appointed former Adecco marketer Mark Bloxham as marketing director.

He replaces Ash Makkar, who left the company to take up the position of head of marketing for BBC Two, BBC Four and Knowledge.

This week, Teletext announced a partnership with Tesco that will see Teletext Holidays shops open within its supermarkets from December.

The partnership was unveiled on Monday (October 5) at the ABTA travel industry conference in Barcelona.

It marks the first time Teletext has moved outside its core television and online business. In the store, customers will be able to access Teletextholidays.co.uk on self-service pods as well as speaking to travel consultants who can search for holiday deals while they shop in the rest of the Tesco store.

Digital screens will also communicate the latest holiday deals and information about popular destinations.

Victoria Sanders, Teletext managing director believes the new Tesco venture will “bring together the modern travel agency for advising and booking holidays with the digital environment we are moving towards.”

Sanders adds: “We have a brand which has become synonymous with great value, last minute deals and that fits very well with Tesco’s core values about quality and choice.”

Thomas Cook has a long-standing in-store arrangement with Sainsbury’s.

Earlier this year Teletext announced that it would switch off its news and information services via analogue and digital television in January next year.
