Fulham signs marketing deal with Red Sox owner

Fulham Football Club has signed a marketing agreement with Fenway Sports Group, a sports marketing agency owned by the holding company behind the Boston Red Sox baseball team.

The deal will see Fenway promote the English Premier League club in the US as both look to exploit the growing popularity of the sport in the States.

The US firm will also look for new commercial partnerships for Fulham, including a new shirt sponsorship deal from the 2010/2011 season after its current deal with LG expires.

Fenway Sports Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of New England Sports Ventures which owns the Boston Red Sox and the team’s Fenway Park stadium.

In 2001, Manchester United signed a deal with the New York Yankees which saw the two developing joint sponsorship and promotional initiatives as well as selling each other’s merchandise in club stores.
