Leona Lewis to support animal welfare charity

The World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) has signed up former X Factor winner, Leona Lewis, as the new face of its “Animals Matter” campaign to get the world’s governments to recognise that animals can suffer and feel pain.

The singer stars in a new campaign video along with her own dog, pledging her support for the charity’s Universal Declaration for Animal Welfare (UDAW) campaign which aims put pressure on the United Nations to agree a global commitment to change laws to protect animals from cruelty, mistreatment and neglect.

The X Factor star is urging fans to back the campaign and “show that animals matter” by signing an online petition.

Fans of Leona Lewis can also access behind the scenes footage of the making of the charity film, and news about the star via the charity’s website.

The WSPA is increasing its mobile and digital marketing efforts to build on an increase in online donations.

The WSPA is the world’s largest alliance of animal welfare organisations dedicated to ending animal cruelty. Member societies lobby governments for policy change, develop educational campaigns and provide relief for animals in areas affected by natural disasters.
