Barclaycard looks to boost marketing team

Barclaycard is looking to strengthen its marketing department by hiring up to 50 additional marketers to work on new customer loyalty and payment initiatives.

The credit card firm is looking to hire a range of marketers across several disciplines in the Barclaycard UK business including digital, campaign management and marketing strategy professionals.

The news comes as the credit card firm undergoes a shift in its sponsorship strategy towards music this year in a bid to engage with customers.

It recently launched music Barclaycardunwind.com and signed a four-year deal earlier this year to replace Nationwide as sponsor of the Mercury Prize.

The credit card firm named former British Airways and American Express marketer Katherine Whitton as its UK marketing director in August.

Barclaycard has also recently launched account management system, mybarclaycard and is currently testing a mobile contactless payment initiative.
