Nokia teams up with Rihanna

Nokia has joined forces with R&B star Rihanna for the launch of the Nokia X6 handset and Rihanna’s upcoming album, R Rated.

The partnership with Rihanna’s record label Island Def Jam Music Group and Universal Music Group International marks the start of Nokia’s “Nokia Play 2010” which hopes to promote Nokia’s mobile music, video and communications services.

These include pay to download “Nokia Music Stores” and its unlimited “Nokia Comes With Music” service.

The pop star will perform an exclusive gig from a secret London venue on 16 November, which will be streamed live, worldwide via Nokia mobile music, video and online.

Fans worldwide can access the live-streamed gig free of charge from Nokia Music Stores.

Nokia Comes with Music Customers will also be able to download an exclusive version of the album and additional free content such as tracks and mobile apps from Nokia’s online Ovi Store.

Liz Schimel, head of global music at Nokia, says that the partnership “redefines the connection between artists and fans to deliver unique experience and content across the globe”.
