Schweppes looks to 50s for festive fun

Schweppes is launching a Christmas advertising and sponsorship campaign based on classic Christmas illustrations.

The creative executions feature the voices of actors Martin Freeman and Doon Mackichan. They first appear as 10 second idents as part of a sponsorship package for UKTV and then will appear as advertisements on terrestrial television.

The idents and spots have been designed to tap into typically British humour and take inspiration from Christmas cartoons of the 1950s but transpose them to a contemporary setting

The campaign has been created by Mother London.

Cathryn Sleight, marketing director for Coca Cola GB, says: “These adverts perfectly capture Schweppes’ brand personality, adding a welcome twist and a humorous slant to any occasion and in this case Christmas. They sit in a long tradition of refreshingly witty advertising and quintessentially British humour that that has always been at the core of the Schweppes brand.”
