Disney Channels Worldwide appoints president

Disney Worldwide has promoted Carolina Lightcap to president of Disney Channels Worldwide.

High School Musical

Lightcap joined Disney in 2000 as vice president of marketing media networks, Latin America and has since held a number of marketing positions in the company. In 2006 she became chief marketing officer for The Walt Disney Company.

She will look after programming and production, business affairs, business planning and development, marketing, brand management, advertising sales and Radio Disney and is tasked with bringing the group through its “next period of growth”.

As senior vice president of programming and creative affairs Lightcap spearheaded the launch of “High School Musical” in Latin America and the development of local feature films in Argentina, Mexico and Brazil, three multi-part “High School Musical”-themed talent competitions broadcast on Disney Channel and free to air TV in the region, and a five country concert arena tour.

Previously, Lightcap worked for Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment where she was responsible for the strategic development and supervision of trade and consumer marketing throughout Latin America.

The role is effective immediately and she will relocate from Buenos Aires to Burbank, California. She will report to Anne Sweeney co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group.

In addition, Gary Marsh, current president of entertainment at Disney Channels Worldwide adds chief creative officer to his title.
